List of Dog Pounds in Ireland
It must be remembered that most dog pounds are not animal rescue centres or shelters (although one or two are). They exist to house seized or surrendered dogs and operate under The Control of Dogs Act, 1986. Thousands of dogs are destroyed in Irish pounds every year.
If you must re-home your dog, contact your local rescue group. They will be able to assist and advise you as to the best and safest way to get the best home for your dog. You will find a list of rescue groups on our Supporters Page.
