Junior Section
The relationship between young people and animals can be so enriching. Children can learn so much from their pets about themselves and their place in the world. The child can be taught responsibility while in return receiving love and companionship as well as having a playmate.
Young people learn how the outside world and living things are connected through their interaction with animals as they help stimulate curiosity and build empathy.
On an emotional level children can learn a lot from pets, for instance:
- Communication
- Empathy
- Confidence
- How to nurture
- Resilience
- Self esteem
- Independence
Not all children are ready for the responsibility of owning and looking after a pet and parents should make absolutely sure before bringing an animal into the home. A lot of research and discussion should be done before deciding. The ultimate responsibility for any animal lie with the parent or adult!
We believe part of the solution towards making Ireland a more compassionate place lies in educating our young people. They are our hope for the future and they are brilliant teachers of the adults in their own lives.
This section will be developed over the next while and we will add some interactive and educational material as we go along. We would love to hear any suggestions you might have.
