                                        Anvil

__Animals Need a Voice In Legislation (ANVIL) Ireland  was formed to raise the profile of animals in Ireland and ensure they are adequately protected in legislation.

Are you involved in animal rescue? Do you have a pet or two? Do you just like animals and believe they deserve to be treated in a humane fashion? If you've answered yes to any of these questions, you can help to improve the situation for animals in Ireland.

Ireland has high kill rates in our dog pounds and we have yet to see how well the new legislation controlling battery puppy farms will work. Hare coursing and fur farming are also thriving.

While most right-thinking people would condemn and oppose cruelty to animals, there is inadequate legislation to tackle this issue. Even existing legislation is not always enforced.

Animals do not have a voice to complain about the cruelty meted out to them. They cannot vote or lobby politicians. They depend on good people to give them the voice they need to be heard in government.

With your help, ANVIL Ireland will make animal welfare a political issue.

What can you do? You can help by contacting public representatives at a local and national level and by getting involved in our campaigns. This way you can make a direct and positive change for all animals.

Unless politicians are aware of the problems and concerns of the public, they will continue to do nothing.

                                        _Our mission

                                        _
Animals Need a Voice in Legislation (ANVIL) Ireland was established to ensure proper care and protection of all animals in legislation. Representing animals across the entire island, we want to give them the voice they need in government.

                                        We aim to:
                                        • Prevent the suffering of animals
                                        • Ensure a balance in all government debates and decisions on animal welfare
                                        • Encourage public debate on the status of all animals
                                        • Examine the political and legislative system
                                        • Research the causes of problems facing animals and also the possible solutions
                                        • Press for reform where needed
                                        • Unite all interested people and animal welfare groups under one banner.

ANVIL Ireland aims to give animals the strongest voice possible.
