Every year local authorities must make returns to the Department of the Environment for the dog pound in their functional area.  These returns should include the number of stray dogs, surrendered dogs, dogs re-homed, reclaimed and destroyed and the cost of the service to the local authority.

The Department of the Environment publish these figures every year on their website Environment .  In order to make some sense of these figures, ANVIL produce some simple tables showing totals and averages for each of the categories. We publish these figures on our website each year.
