8Hours Campaign
To Reduce the travelling time for animals to slaughter to 8 hours.

Picture
The 8hours Campaign

Every day animals are transported under unacceptable conditions on European highways.

The most important issue is the duration of the transports. Current EU legislation allows for animals to be transported for several days. This has to be changed. Live animals for slaughter should never be transported for more than eight hours.

ANVIL supports the 8hours campaign. This campaign is aimed at having European union written declaration 49/2011 made the official position of the European Parliament. To do this, the majority of MEPs must sign the declaration before the deadline of 15 March 2012.

To date, over one million signatures have been collected from across Europe.  You can sign the petition and get more information by logging in to The 8hours website

You can help by contacting your MEP by letter and ask him to sign this important declaration.  It is better to write as they may be annoyed by receiving a lot of e-mails and a letter carries more weight.  Please take a few minutes to do this, it can help prevent more animals suffering on long journeys.

You will find details of all MEPs in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland below.

You will find a template letter on our Template letters page or below.
